Mikele is a professional piercer and body jewelry dealer. He will be demonstrating the metal anodizing processes. Anodizing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anodizing) is an electrochemical process applied to metals, which thickens the natural oxide coating of the metal. It is useful in preventing corrosion and wear on the metal, as well as providing an ideal surface for colorization via paint or dye. The workshop will focus on Titanium anodizing where the process of thickening the titanium oxide layer causes interference colors to appear. We will have a chance to practice anodizing on scrap materials, selecting color effects, rainbow patterns, and "anodized painting" on metal plates. After a little practice, you can make your own piece of anodized art, an example of which is shown above.
